Interact Hospital Visit
It was a very memorable day for the Interactors last Friday when they visited the National Heart Institute ( IJN). There is just something in giving and serving others that warms the heart and leaves you smiling at the end of the day.
It's not always about giving extraordinarily big. But instead it's the giving from the heart that matters.
It's not always about giving extraordinarily big. But instead it's the giving from the heart that matters.
1) bed to bed visit = colouring with the children, talking to them, encouraging them, making them smile. We also made bookmarks and distributed biscuits.
2) entertaining the children with a puppet show titled, " the princess and the frog"
3) playing games and singing with them
4) Donation to IJN to help support the poorer patients who cannot afford treatment. ( many thank yous to the students who contributed to make this possible by attending our IU day in April)

Design me, yes.
Feeling bored and tired of studying already? On the way back to your hometown wishing you had something to do? Or are you a talented artist waiting to shine? Well here's what you can do:
The Interact Club will be doing a fund raising to raise funds for our club and yet in the same time, be able to send the message that hey look "Our earth needs us". Thus, Int Jia Huey came up with the idea of selling cloth bags, somewhat similar to recycle bags. Below/attached is an example of roughly how the bags will look like.
1. "Project Design the Bag"
So basically, what you will have to do is, design a design on that bag, preferably in one colour. Something catchy, cute and awesome. Something that would make that bag sell. The theme is on Environment. So maybe a catchy phrase ( It's now or never, Pick up that paper and recycle, Use me, or Go green?), or a picture ( stick man figures, children, earth, you, a person's face going green?) or both. It's all up to you and your creativity. Sounds good?
On top of that, we will be offering "services" to customise "their bags". By personalising it with their names, etc with extra charges of course. So keep in mind of that while designing the bag.
2. INTERACT CLUB T-shirt
And like every other year, this year we would also be making an Interact T-shirt. So designs for t-shirt are also needed. Interact Club t-shirt can also be based on the environment in conjuction with our IU day, or just interact.
If your design is chosen, you’ll get the bag/t-shirt for free.
So what are you waiting for tigers?
Send in your designs latest by 24th of February (which is our next club meeting)
Designs can be sent through e-mail to c_jun_ning@hotmail.com and jiahuey1993@hotmail.com ( send to both ya)
You can draw it out in paper, and scan or do it straight in computer. Or if you are a computer illiterate like me. Draw it on paper and pass it to us with your name and class during Wednesday club meeting or find me in 5 Angsana.
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR my dears!

Club meeting
" Oh! Let the hand of friendship be stretched across the sea, To bring mankind together in one fraternity...."
haha, I sure do hope you still remember the Interact song! Anyways, a million thank yous and smiles to all the interactors who came for our last club meeting. I sure do look forward to seeing you more in the future.
But for those, who missed it for various reasons, if you were sick or your hamster died, you had plans..... lol. Well no worries. Just read on.
Station games
1. Station one : Interact knowledge
In the interact knowledge station, interactors were taught the pledge and the two interact songs. Which you still remember? I hope.
Group one 1, and guess who won? *winks*
The interact pledge was cut into many many many different pieces and teams were asked to assemble them back. And this group did it without breaking a sweat. =)))
Team 5 : =) who were always filled with energy and enthusiasm. No?
The pledge almost completed.
2. Station two : The tallest man
Our future engineers of some sort, were told to build not the tallest tower but man.
hahah, you could literally see creative juices flowing out their heads as teams, creatively designed a man who could stand.
from using shoes for shoes
to broom sticks for skirts.
Well, let's just say, some did better than the other.
All smiles. Pretty girls with their man.
3. Station three : Giant speed
Last but not least, our all time favourite, card game speed was tailored to be played in a team.
=))))
I hope you guys had tons of fun, we sure did! Next club meeting is on the 24 Feb 2010. See you there?

Four students missing in boat mishap (Update 2)
GEORGETOWN: The body of one of the five Chung Ling High School students, who went missing after their boat capsized in strong waves off Macallum Street Ghaut here, has been found.
Rescue workers found the body at 2.45pm on Sunday, believed to be that of Jason Ch'ng.
According to George Town acting OCPD Supt Gan Kong Meng, Ch’ng’s body was found under a boat not far from the shore.
Earlier, the body of their teacher Chin Aik Siang, 27, who was the school’s dragon boat team advisor, was found at about 11am.
A total of 17 students, aged between 16 and 17 years, and their teacher-cum-coach were training for a dragon boat race when the incident occurred at about 9am on Sunday just as the team was doing the final lap before returning to the shore.
The boat capsized when the students were doing a sharp manoeuvre, which hit a tug boat.
It is believed that strong currents had pulled the students into the water.
Twelve other students however managed to swim to the shore.
Some of them swam about 1km while some were rescued by two passing fishing boats.
A search and rescue operation has been mounted by the police, the Fire and Rescue Department and the Civil Defence Department.
The sunken boat has been recovered and towed to the shore.
Meanwhile, parents of the missing students are keeping a vigil near the scene.
Many of them were seen weeping openly and are being consoled by their relatives.
Those missing have been identified as Brandon Yeoh, Jason Ch’ng, Koh Yiz Hiang, Cheah Zi Jun, all 17, and Yong Xiang, 16.
It is learnt that some of the 17 students were not wearing life jackets.
It is learnt that the teacher Chin had only been recently appointed to the post.
He had been teaching science and mathematics for the past two years.
His body was sent to the Penang Hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Kuah Zi Xun, 17, who swam to the shore, said the strong current pulled down the students.
“Some of the who were wearing life jackets were also pulled down. I hope all my friends are safe,” he said.
Currently, more than 100 personnel from St John Ambulance, Rela, Penang Hospital, volunteer firefighters and divers from the Fire and Rescue Services department are involved in the search operations.
Penang police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Wira Ayub Yaakob told a press conference that the incident occurred about 150m from the shore.
“We are still investigating how many of them were wearing life jackets,” he said.

I pray you are safe. Come back to us. Stop playing with water and come back to play viwawa with me. I haven't gotten to know you enough. I haven't gone out with you like that time you came to KL. I haven't seen you enough in sarung.
I am praying for you.
